Africa as a mission field is like none other. The people of Africa are warm and hospitable to the American missionary. Caution is advised though because corruption by officials is the normal course of business. Theft can be a problem to the naive or unescorted missionary.

It is wise to have an African church or pastor or ministry leader become your host in Africa. Go to them and stay with them. Eat what they eat, travel with them, and all will go well. If you try to maintain your American standard of living and conveniences while in Africa, your trip will fail.

Non-Christian Africans are very open to spiritual issues. They are very open to hearing the gospel. The American Christian will experience Christianity much like it was in the first century. There is nothing like a mission trip to Africa to totally redefine the American's walk of faith.

If you enjoy teaching or caring for children - Africa is the place to go. You will find these children to be such a joy! If you do nothing more than hug them, that alone will have been successful. We Americans can't quite understand the impact that simple act creates. Children want to learn. They are polite and obey you. They want to touch your skin and hear you talk or laugh.

Any skill or vocation or education you can deliver to Africa will be warmly received. You will be treated like a celebrity through their appreciation.
